Manor park embarks on campus reconfiguration, renovation of common buildings

Manor Park has stood as a cornerstone of the Midland community for decades, offering healthcare and residential accommodations tailored to the senior population. Though Midland's overall population is growing younger, the US population aged 75 and older is projected to double between 2015 and 2036. This trend underscores the importance of planning for the future expansion of eldercare.

To better accommodate current and future residents, Manor Park has launched a $28.5 million capital campaign to fund a major campus reconfiguration and renovations to its common buildings. The consolidation of campus healthcare and the age of the current Manor Park facilities are catalysts for this project that not only will equip Manor Park for future growth but will enhance the quality of life for current and future generations.

As part of this plan, Manor Park will consolidate long-term care and skilled nursing operations to the Scharbauer and Cowden Cottages. This will allow Manor Park to fully adopt a holistic approach to long-term care in home-like facilities that promote social interaction, value independence, and prioritize residents’ personal well-being.

Renovations of common buildings constructed 40 years ago will optimize the existing spaces for both the residents and the community members to enjoy for many years to come.

Key updates include improvements to the Barney Greathouse Activity Building’s atrium, library, and living areas. The 300-plus independent living residents currently using these common spaces can expect an expanded library and a 4,500-sf cultural center from the renovations. More changes include the renovation of the Younger Center to become the front entrance of the Manor Park campus along with the addition of a reception area and easily accessible offices for administration, sales, marketing, and human resources.

Manor Park’s President and CEO, Stephen Nelson remarked, “Manor Park is deeply grateful to the Scharbauer Foundation for their extraordinary $5.7 million grant toward the Age of Renewal Capital Project. Their continued investment in initiatives at Manor Park ensures a lasting impact on our residents and community for generations to come.”
